CrossLoop: great product, but is it a trojan horse? - Update (2)
The problem I was facing with CrossLoop / AVG has been RESOLVED.
If you're still facing similar problems, please try updating your AVG. Mine worked with CrossLoop using program version 7.5.476 and virus database 269.10.6/900.
Thanks to the teams at CrossLoop and AVG that were behind this, and many thanks to everyone that shared their experience via comments on this blog.
A great product listens to its users -- kudos to CrossLoop!

Thanks Praveen and a big thanks to the AVG folks as well for moving so quickly!
I had the same problem on home PC using AVG Free. Glad to here AVG has since corrected the problem.
Now my work antivirus program, McAfee Version 3.6.0.453, is detecting a virus in Crossloop. Here's a link to a screenshot

I experienced the same problem with McAfee enterprise edition. I had to do the following to get around the problem until it is permanently resolved by the vendor(s):
1 - I disabled McAfee On-Access scan.
2 - Installed CrossLoop.
3 - Told McAfee to trust the executable files in the CrossLoop installation folder. Viruscan Console->On-Access Scanner->Viruscan On-Access Scan Properties->All Processes->Detection->Exclusions->Add...
x:/Program Files/CrossLoop->CrossLoopConnect.exe + winvnc.exe + vncviewer.exe and possibly the dlls a well.
4 - Enable McAfee On-Access scan.
I have guided many of the people I support online through this process and they didn't have any problems. CrossLoop sessions worked perfectly with McAfee.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Alejandro Quesada
