Rubik's Cube

Here's an "insight" from the Customer Analytics & Consumer Insights conference that I am attending in Singapore this week.
Rubik's Cube is back in fashion again. It was invented in 1974. I last played with one in my teens, many (many) years ago.
When Toys"R"Us started marketing the cube at its stores, they realised that consumers walked in, and loved playing with the product. But they weren't buying it.
Upon conducting a study, they realised that people were more likely to buy the Rubik's Cube if they knew how to complete it. Toys"R"Us then came up with a 7-step guide to completing the cube. Sales spiked in no time. Neat, huh?
So, when was the last time you solved the Rubik's Cube?

Praveen : You bet it's back in fashion! When I was back in KL, my bro was playing with it and could solve it in less than 5mins. I used to go to his room in the morning, pick up the "made-up" cube and un-scramble it, and when he comes home form work in the evening, he'll solve it and it's there, all made-up again in the morning (the cycle continues). I can unscramble it pretty fast!!! (No, i cannot solve it though)
I could never solve this thing lah! Bloody annoying. I know the middle cube of each side is the colour that completed side will be. I think the world record in solving it is 10 seconds or something.
